The video above is about future technologies. When i first watched the video, i was like 'whoa how cool','how cool is it going to be if there's a store like that here in Indonesia'. Someday maybe those technologies will also be available in our country, yes, someday. There are some things that i'd like to give a comment from the video. Here they are...
- The implementation of Pervasive ComputingPervasive Computing could be described as an improvement in the implementation of information and telecommunication technology into humans daily life and environments. It could also said as a condition where the presence of computer is no longer detected, as the computer has become an invisible "assistant" for its users. In the video, we could say that all the stuff that is used is automatic, and connected. The technology totally blends in humans daily life, and it makes an user-friendly environment, which then makes humans life becomes easier.
- The use of RFID technologyRFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a method of identifying things with the RFID tag as a medium, or a trasnponder to store and retrieve data remotely. RFID tag or RFID card is something that could be installed in a product, animal, or even human with the purpose of identifying using radio frequency. RFID tag is different from barcode, because unlike barcode it doesn't need any direct contact with the RFID tag reader/interogator. The RFID tag consists of silicon microchip and antenna. It is used in many industries, such as pharmacy, agriculture, and automotive.
- Touch Screen technology
Touch screen technology makes humans easier to access or make a contact with digital devices. It gives more broad access to its users.
There are stuffs that i saw from the video that uses those 3 technologies described above. And they are :
- Smart Washing Machine
Smart washing machine with RFID technology could detect the items inside, like color. It is very useful to help its users, because the list of the item inside will be shown before the washing process begins. It makes easier for the user to control the items, whether there is something that shouldn't be included or not. - Smart Fridge & e-shopping list
Smart fridge easily scans the contents inside of it, and it's even integrated with the e-shopping list of its owner, which then could give a notification if something that's used to be in it is in stock or out of stock. When the user receive the notification of items inside the fridge in the digital shopping list, the user then could decide what to buy when he/she goes to the store easily. Digital shopping list is also integrated with the smart chart on the store when the user uses it. - Smart Store, Smart Chart
Smart store totally implements RFID to its contents, so that the stocks could be tracked easly. Smart chart could also scans the items inside it, and connected with user's digital shopping list, the smart chart in its monitor will lead the user which way to go to take the items they want to buy. The halls of the smart store also uses RFID. - Smart shelves
Smart shelves will always scan its contents automatically. The employees will be given notification when there is a thing that is not where it should be in a shelf, and when something is running out of stocks. - Smart Make-up Appliers & Smart Dressing Room
These two things are so cool. It gives consumer an easy way to try on a products, clothes for smart dressing room and make up for smart make-up appliers, without needing to actually try and apply it on ourselves. Usually when we need to try on clothes or make-up it will take some times, but with these technologies there is no need to waste time because within seconds we could see the result of us trying the stuff we want to buy, without even touching the real stuff itself. - Smart (Auto) Check out
In the usual store when we want to pay things we buy in the cashier, we need to wait for all the things to be scanned for its barcode. The more things we have in the chart, the longer we have to wait until the payment receipt is done. But not in the future store. When we pass the first gate into the cashier, all the things inside our smart chart are scanned automatically - the name of the items, amount of products, prices, and the total price, so that we could directly pay when we arrive at the cashier. It gives us more efficiency in a matter of time. It also more safe because the possibility of a culprit stoles thing from the store is almost zero percent, unless the culprit could avoid getting caught by the systems.
Those technologies explained above are the things that will make humans life much more easier in the future. But we have to acknowledge that to apply those technologies in the future store, it needs a big investment first. Because quality has its price, a sophisticated and all-automatic technology are not cheap. Also in a developing country like Indonesia where many people still hasn't been familiar with the latest technology, it needs time to make its users adapt well into the technology that is used, so that the problem comes from the users way of using the technology could be prevented and reduced.
